Did you know about these analogies? Israel, God's chosen people, was led out of Egypt by the powerful hand of the Lord. During their wanderings through the desert, they were always unfaithful to God; but even so, they reached the land of Canaan and finally God himself had to descend in human form to this world to die on a cross for his people and to redeem them and us, the Gentiles.
Definitely the people of Israel could not satisfy the holy justice of God with their works, ceremonies and compliments ; this could only be achieved by the person of Christ.
You and I too, today we are that people that God has chosen and has taken us out of this world of sin by the powerful hand of the Lord ( not by our pious efforts ) and what a pity; but in the midst of our Christian pilgrimage we are always being unfaithful to God.
Therefore, there is no alternative but to embrace and believe in the sacrifice of Christ on the cross of Calvary to redeem all our miserable wickedness.
In the middle of the desert, the people of Israel had many complaints and sins; but Jehovah God was always patient and loving with them, satisfying their needs in the midst of the great challenges that their pilgrimage to the promised land entailed.
For my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed out for themselves cisterns—broken cisterns, that can hold no water.
(Jeremiah 2:13).
-Today I know that the sons of God have taken the rock of Horeb, and they do not run here and there, looking for where to calm down .

Historia de la Biblia
Los primeros versículos del capítulo 17 de Éxodo nos describen la historia de cómo los israelitas argumentaron contra Moisés y le dijeron: ¿Para qué nos sacaste de Egipto? ¿Sólo para matarnos de sed a nosotros, a nuestros hijos y a nuestro ganado?
Clamó entonces Moisés al Señor, y le dijo: ¿Qué voy a hacer con este pueblo? ¡Sólo falta que me maten a pedradas!
Entonces, el Señor le dijo: golpearás la peña, y saldrán de ella aguas, y beberá el pueblo.
Dios en Su Gracia, les hizo brotar una fuente de agua de la roca de Horeb. ¡Qué maravillosa paciencia y tolerancia de Dios hacia los pecadores que le provocan! Dios muestra su poder y su compasión en medio del desierto y hace un milagro de misericordia para su pueblo.
Cristo es la peña de Horeb
El apóstol Pablo nos aclara a la luz del nuevo pacto lo siguiente: y todos bebieron la misma bebida espiritual; porque bebían de la roca espiritual que los seguía, y la roca era Cristo.
(1 Corintios 10:4).
Las figuras de Dios y Cristo, como una roca, fuerte y firme corren por todas las Escrituras y puede hacerse un estudio muy precioso de esto.
Jehová, roca mía y castillo mío, y mi libertador; Dios mío, fortaleza mía, en él confiaré; Mi escudo, y la fuerza de mi salvación, mi alto refugio.
(Salmo 18:2).
Aunque la maldición de Dios podría haber sido justamente ejecutada contra nuestras almas culpables, he aquí que el Hijo de Dios es herido por todos nosotros y Cristo Jesús viene a ser la provisión abundante y constante de esta agua viva que necesitamos los cristianos.
Muchas veces hemos argumentado a Dios en medio de nuestro desierto: y hemos dicho: ¿Señor, estás conmigo o no?
Pero nunca Dios nos ha desamparado por nuestras rebeldías, no ha volcado su ira sobre nosotros en medio de nuestras infidelidades, y no ha dejado de amarnos y abrazarnos con su bendita gracia.
Dios nos ha enviado una peña de Horeb que brota agua viva por todos nosotros. Espero por la gracia de Dios, que usted se encuentre bebiendo de ella.
Jesús dijo a la mujer samaritana:
Cualquiera que bebiere de esta agua, volverá a tener sed;
mas el que bebiere del agua que yo le daré,
no tendrá sed jamás; sino que el agua que yo le daré será en él
una fuente de agua que salte para vida eterna.
(Juan 4:13 y 14).
